Head of Transport Job in Glasgow | £60-70k Salary

FindCore are thrilled to be assisting an established transport and logistics business with the recruitment of a Head of Transport.

Permanent, full-time position based in Glasgow.

Salary

£60,000 – £70,000, depending on experience + additional benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transport function and oversee day-to-day fleet operations.
• Manage transport managers, planners, drivers and wider operational teams.
• Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation.
• Monitor fleet performance, utilisation, costs and service levels.
• Oversee driver compliance, tachograph, working time and vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Manage transport budgets, KPIs and operational performance.
• Work closely with senior management on transport strategy and business growth.
• Ensure vehicles, drivers and systems remain compliant and audit-ready.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies where required.
• Drive continuous improvement across safety, efficiency and service delivery.

Skills & Experience

• Strong senior-level transport management experience.
• Transport Manager CPC qualification required.
• Proven experience managing an Operator Licence and associated compliance responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and fleet compliance.
• Experience leading transport teams and managing operational performance.
• Good commercial awareness and budget-management experience.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Confident managing audits, compliance reviews and corrective actions.
• Experience within a large fleet or high-volume transport operation would be advantageous.
